08 August, 2019

Auckland, 8 August 2019 – Teknique, a leading global computer-vision company for consumer and commercial applications, has appointed Mike Riley as Executive Chairperson.

Mike, a former CEO of Compac Sorting Equipment and Endace Group, the network analytics company, has significant experience in leading Kiwi high-tech manufacturing companies into international markets including Europe and the USA.

Mike joins Teknique as global brands and manufacturers race to invest in AI-enabled vision solutions to improve personalisation, safety and quality. Teknique’s products are integrated into many consumer and commercial products from smart home devices, automated drones and robotics to professional security and commercial fleet cameras.

“High-value exporters like Teknique are something of an unsung story, creating a vibrant technology ecosystem for New Zealand, developing new skills and increasing economic wealth,” says Mike Riley. “I am excited to join Ben’s team who are ‘bringing the future forward’ in adding the sense of sight to a vast range of connected devices, helping them interpret the world around them and make autonomous decisions.”

Founder and CEO Ben Bodley established Teknique in 2004, and is based on Auckland’s North Shore, believing that enhancing the development of vision-based systems is vital to unlocking the next wave of productivity through automation and improved user experiences. Today the company distributes its Oclea range of off-the-shelf integrated camera modules via Macnica in Europe and North America, while providing bespoke solutions direct to clients worldwide.

“As Teknique scales up to take advantage of international growth opportunities created by advances in AI and its widespread integration into computer-vision solutions we need support and advice from someone with proven experience,” says Ben Bodley, Founder and CEO of Teknique. “Mike is a welcome addition whose expertise in opening new markets for Kiwi technology exporters comes at a great time for Teknique.”
